Running Cables began in 2012 with founder, Jonathan Running. However, the trade was not unfamiliar to Jonathan. His father and grandfather had careers in the industry connecting generations of cabling expertise.
The legacy of Running Cables spans back two generations, starting with Jonathan's grandfather at a Twisted Pair Cable factory, where he not only contributed to the manufacturing process but also undertook installation projects on the side.
Jonathan's father learned the trade from his father, eventually establishing his own cable installation company at the age of 20. Embracing the family tradition, Jonathan also received hands-on training in the trade. Bolstered by the support of successive generations, Jonathan launched Running Cables in 2012.
We provide many services within our industry that fall into these main core services.

Very pleased with ethernet cabling at my Oakville home. They have an excellent website for estimating and explaining costs. I sent a request using their online form and they emailed me back in 48 hours and offered me install options including next day!! They sent 2 very professional and friendly technicians (with their commercial van) who did amazing work. They followed Covid protocols and everything is installed and looks very professional. I have a professionally finished basement and requested them to cable outside rather than inside (they were happy to do either). I installed 2 Ethernet CAT6 (advanced cables) from my basement to my first level living room and second floor office to deliver my gigabit Cogeco service. They tested the installs and took pictures. So pleased and will definitely use them again. FYI: in the house pic you can see the cable running along the lower bricks to the back of my house and the upper one running to my second floor office.
What can I say about this company that other people haven’t said? All I can tell you is that this was one of the best and fastest services.
Bradley and Taylor, the two people that helped me, came ready for any situation.
They identified the problem or, in my case, issues, and they gave me options and solutions, and we moved forward with a couple of those, and Ethernet wiring was done in a timely matter.
These people are not here to joke around or receive their payment and go.
They are here to give you the best experience possible while also doing the work and ensuring that it’s appropriately done.
I’ve called many companies over the last couple of days to see which can come and which can help me with my Ethernet problem.
Many of them either say we don’t do that or think it’s a small problem.
In the end, I called running cables, and not only were they willing to help me, but they also came to me even though I was in a different city and was about 50 minutes away; that’s dedication.
I connected with Jonathan a few days before our installation on Dec 23rd, 2021. I covered what we were hoping to achieve with his team. It was a growing concern for us with the number of wires we had lying around in our family room that was fully exposed. We also had severe issues with the opposite side of the house not receiving Wi-Fi signals. Finally, Wi-Fi kept tripping while playing online games from the basement, and could we hardwire a point to gain access to a stronger signal.
After listening attentively to all of our concerns, Jonathan, step by step, took me through the various solutions/options that we could consider. Ultimately, he could not guarantee the strength of the Wi-Fi due to multiple factors outside of the cable plans. This included the network hardware I was using, the provider we had, what internet plan we were on, etc.
He took the time to relay the information to his team, and they were able to provide a detailed quote which to me felt very fair for the work that needed to be completed. Overall, it would take a half-day. By the way, Jonathan is highly accessible – every time I called or texted with a question, he responded promptly. We even had a video chat so I could walk him through the house so he could assess what his team would be dealing with.
We agreed on a course of action, and fortunately for me, he had a cancellation that week itself. His team was able to come in sooner than expected. His team carefully cleaned up all the protruding wirework, sealed up the holes where the cables were coming from and cleaned up the living room of any further nuisance from the wires. They then went to work fishing cables through the basement to the centralized location that we thought would be the best fit for our family.
The team did an excellent job of helping us get a super clean look with the finished product. Everything is now hidden behind the bookshelf. The hardwired cable is now available for the gaming console. The best news of all, even 6 months later, the Wi-Fi works throughout the house, and there are no more empty pockets of space.
