Job Description – Commercial Cable Technician

General Overview:

A Commercial Cable Technician will work on a variant of job sizes. There may be a single cable or trouble shoot at an active office or a large construction site that lasts for weeks at a time. We want our techs to set themselves apart from others in the industry and complete their work with exceptional skill. We operate by projects, and there will be an assigned project(s) to which you will be responsible for the quality, time frame and customer satisfaction. The work includes pulling cable through ceilings, mounting cable suspension systems, installing racks, terminations, and rack design. Wage is linked to the value to the company. Value will increase within the company when the Project Manager can assign larger jobs with the confidence in ability to manage and produce the desired end result.

Report to:

Estimator & Project Manager

On an average day, you will be expected to:

  1. Arrive at the office on time to pick up the truck, work order, and materials.
  2. Arrive to the customers place on time.
  3. Speak with the customer to confirm scope and expectations.
  4. Install network cables or fiber.
  5. Communicate challenges or change orders to the project manager.
  6. Exceptional clean up.
  7. Take photos.
  8. Fill out paperwork.
  9. Return the truck, materials, and paperwork to the office.
  10. Always maintaining the truck and tool organization.

Skills and qualifications:

  • G License.
  • Passionate about great rack designs,
  • Proficient at estimating remaining time on site.
  • Able to accurately describe challenges and change order requests to the customer and project manager.
  • Passionate about self-improvement.
  • Creating organized checklists.
  • Ability to track the time and materials used on a project.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized truck.

You need to be willing to:

  1. Work hard.
  2. Work under time restraints.
  3. Work past 5pm if projects run longer than expected.
  4. Work on lifts.
  5. Work on ladders.

You will get:

  1. A Running Cables truck that is fully stocked.
  2. Most tools *Some tools required.
  3. Running Cables shirts and a hoodie.
  4. Basic training on your first week *regardless of experience.
